Jeremy Jordan
![]() Jeremy Jordan is a senior at the U of M. He is a political science and journalism major with a custom emphasis in news and a minor in history. Jeremy is a contributing writer for the Daily Helmsman. He spends most of his time at school and work, but when the opportunity arises he loves to travel and report on issues around the country. Jeremy has covered murder cases, city council meetings, festivals, the Rally to Restore Sanity/ and or Fear in Washington, D.C, and many issues that affect the community here in Memphis, TN. Jeremy plans to graduate in December and has many marketable skills including communication, computer assisted reporting techniques, and photography. Boyd interned at WMC-TV 5 during her sophomore year. She interned at Live Your Potential as their Marketing and Media Relations Intern. She is a former radio personality for U92 The Jazz Lover. Boyd will intern at the sister station for WMC-TV 5, KAIT-8 starting in May 2013. In her spare time, she mentors, hosts, speaks at schools and conferences, travels and focuses on entrepreneurship. Kathy Brower![]() Kathy Brower is a broadcast journalism student at the University of Memphis and will graduate in May. She is currently interning at WMC-TV Action News 5. Kathy is a tour guide at the U of M and also volunteers for the Memphis Tiger Network, providing highlights, interviews, and voice-overs. Kathy’s ultimate goal is to become a morning news anchor that focuses on connecting with the community.

Jessica L. Chavers

Michelle Corbet![]() Michelle Corbet is a senior journalism student at The University of Memphis. She has been a reporter at The Daily Helmsman, and she now serves as editor-in-chief. Michelle interned as a business reporter for The Commercial Appeal from May to July of 2012. While she enjoys her time as editor, her true passion is reporting and writing. JJ GreerJJ Greer is a senior at the U of M. He is a journalism major with a concentration in newspaper/magazine writing. Most of his time is spent either at school or on the soccer field playing for the university. Due to his commitment playing soccer for the school, he has not had much time to intern at local newspapers or news stations. With that being said, he enjoys meeting and talking to new people and is a naturally curious person so with hard work and a bit of luck it will translate to being a good journalist.

Crystal Russell![]() Senior at the University of Memphis in Tennessee, Russell majors in journalism with a concentration in print. Her go-to news source is the minimalist jewel, The New York Times. Lovie Hudson is currently a broadcast journalism student at the University of Memphis.
Her ultimate goal is to focus becoming a newscaster immediately after graduation. As of right now she is focused on school and participating in journalism organizations.
She is currently a member of NABJ and NAACP. She also became a member of an upcoming magazine just for our campus called Tiger Swagg.
Shortly she will become an intern for a news station but as a junior she’s still becoming knowledgeable about the world of journalism. She plans to do an internship her senior year.

John Martin

John Martin is the recruiting reporter at The Commercial Appeal and a senior journalism student at the University of Memphis. Barring a monumental academic collapse, John will graduate in May. Before joining the newspaper in April, he worked for Fox Sports and Scout.com covering the Tigers. He also served as sports editor of the campus newspaper, The Daily Helmsman, for a semester in Spring 2011. John hopes to continue to hold a paying job.
Catherine Patton

Catherine Patton is a Broadcast News Journalism major at the University of Memphis. She has reported and produced for Insight News, the campus newscast. She enjoys creative activities like painting and dancing. She is an intern at Running Pony Productions, where she hopes to learn the ins and outs of video production and television producing. Christian Hudson

Christian Hudson is a Junior Broadcast Journalism Major with a Minor in Theater Arts. His Insight News involvement has given him more passion for his major and HE soon wishes to intern at ESPN. Declaring his minor in Theater Arts was a big step for him but he knew with his deep passion for performance the journey would be challenging and beneficial. The minor would also help him venture out more into some of his other talents. Christian's campus involvement consists of a Chairman for NAACP, Student Government Association (SGA)Student Activity Counsel(SAC), Black Student Association(BSA), and TRiO student support service. As a leader on the University of Memphis campus he hopes one day to be a leader in the real world whether it is a role model on TV or getting involved in the community.

Carrie Sanders

Carrie Sanders will graduate with a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Memphis in May 2013. She currently works as a freelance Stage Manager/Field Producer with LDM Worldwide Productions primarily with CBS Sports Network. Christopher Whitten is a former reporter and editor of The Daily Helmsman, the independent student newspaper at the University of Memphis.
He has also worked as the digital content manager for The Commercial Appeal, the largest metropolitan newspaper in the Memphis area. There he was responsible for posting wire stories as well as monitoring crime and traffic.
He is currently a senior at the U of M and is set to graduate in summer 2013 with a 3.8 grade point average and a summa cum laude bachelor of arts diploma from the college of communication and fine arts.

Caray Grace Oldham

Caray Grace Oldham will graduate in May 2013 from the University of Memphis with a major in Broadcast News and a minor in Spanish language. Since January of 2011, she has been with AM 1480 WBBP in Memphis, TN as a show host. In May 2012, at WBBP, she began a weekly sports segment called "Caray's Playbook". Caray is also a reporter for the Memphis Tiger Network, which covers all athletics at the University of Memphis. With the MTN she has had the opportunity to broadcast live with the FOX Soccer Network.
Along with being the Student Government Vice-President, Caray is active in several other campus organizations and will begin an Internship with WHBQ-TV FOX13 Memphis in January 2013. "I want to be a voice for the voiceless" this is why Caray has chosen to pursue journalism.
